LIVE STREAMING - BRUCE BAKER & THE VIRTUAL ALTERED PRESENCE JAZZ BAND

Hello my fellow jazz lovers.  Due to the pandemic, I am unable to perform live with the APJ Band or the Trio or solo for that matter other than virtually.  Most musicians are faced with the same issues.  I know some who are still out there gigging, but for me it is too much of a risk.  It has been suggested I play on-line, streaming, so that I can share my new tunes and ideas in a virtual live environment despite the fact I can't see those who tuned in to listen.

Because I know you are out there somewhere listening, it changes everything compared to practicing alone with respect to what I play and how I play.  It is challenging to a degree; with respect to playing solo in a virtual live setting, and playing with virtual musicians.  It's true the virtual musicians I play with are fantastic.  They never seem to make a mistake.  But they are not very forgiving when I make mistakes or get lost.  I try to communicate with them while performing, but they ignore me until I hit the "stop playing" button.  As the band leader I insist on a level of control.

Despite the difficulties and challenges, it is super fun to share my music with my friends - you - all of you -  in the hope that I can make you smile and forget about Covid for a few minutes.

My first "event" is being broadcast using the most basic of equipment - my iPhone.  Actually, it isn't bad.  The sound quality and video is "acceptable".  I mention this because I want you to know I am working on my home equipment so that I can improve the sound quality and the video quality of my live broadcasts.

Below is a link to my first Facebook Live Event:  "Original Jazz by Bruce Baker"  December 21, 7:00 pm.  I will be playing solo for just a bit, and then I will be joined by Debbie Download on drums and Betsy Backup on bass.  However, it will be an impromptu event.

Stay safe everyone and hope to see you on the 21st of December or any of the subsequent shows.  My current plan is to play for approximately 20 minutes every other week.

Event Link.  This is a Facebook Live Event but you do not have to have a facebook account to view the live video.  And I will be recording and posting the video here on my website if you decide to watch/listen afterwords.

Facebook Live Page and Event URLs:  I am not sure which you are to use - both may work.
